Praise for Laury A. Egan’s Books:
The Firefly “The Firefly expertly follows the vagaries of a young girl’s life as she tries hard to direct her soul back to an unconditional love that fascinated her at one of her lowest points. This is an excellent, complex work and may well reign supreme alongside Egan’s other works.”—Nat Burns, author of Rosemary
The Psychologist’s Shadow “…a ‘I-read-it-in-two-days’ book. Egan creates a gifted analyst and gripping case studies of her clients, one of whom is a disturbed admirer. The novel delivers chills in a highly sophisticated, wise, and ultimately poignant psychodrama.”—Karla Linn Merrifield, author of Psyche’s Scroll
Once, Upon an Island “This…novel is bursting at the seams with emotions, memories, doubts and teenage angst. A beautifully written story on so many levels; mainly, the focus is on Olivia and the author really got under her skin – and mine. Laury Egan writes with confidence and an enviable depth. One to relish and remember, and easily worth all five glowing stars.” —Grace J. Smith
Doublecrossed “Egan quickly establishes her strength as writer in this edge-of-your seat page-turner. She sneakily lulls readers into an insta-romance, making them think everything is going to be all flowers and steamy sex. Just when they are all slumped back in their seats and feeling comfortable, Egan stomps on the gas.” — Women Using Words
Wave in D Minor “A riveting book from beginning to end!”—Jenni Brandon, composer of 3 Paderewskis: An Opera in One Act
The Swimmer “Egan’s story is for anyone contemplating the meaning of death, and life, and everything in between: fear, regret, desire, hope, acceptance. There is deep compassion here and beautiful storytelling.”—Lori Ostlund, author of After the Parade
The Ungodly Hour “A clever, tense thriller with a surprise ending!”—Kathi Isserman, former reviewer, Curve Magazine
A Bittersweet Tale “I cannot recall a novel so perfectly menacing.”—Karla Linn Merrifield, author of Psyche’s Scroll
Fabulous! An Opera Buffa “A campy, hilarious, fast-paced indulgence that’s addictively entertaining. Dynamic, colorful characters add flair to a story full of snappy dialogue and rapid-fire action.” —©Kirkus Reviews
The Outcast Oracle “…highly literary, easily accessible writing that lifts this story to the very top of the heap. Simply delicious fun from start to finish.”—© Kirkus Reviews, Vicky Smith (starred review)
Fog and Other Stories “Laury Egan has the capacity for human understanding which has always defined the top writers of short fiction. In Fog and Other Stories, she has produced a collection of tales which both entertain and matter to the soul of the reader.”—T.D. Johnston, Short Story America
Jenny Kidd “Some [books] are little gems, like Laury A. Egan’s atmospheric Jenny Kidd. A top-notch thriller that takes on art forgery, murder and incest. The last twenty pages or so are a breathless rush of dark passageways, tense interrogations, and perfectly executed gore that leave you gasping and satisfied.”—Jerry L. Wheeler, © 2012
